IBPS SO Prelims Preparation Tips 2017

Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts specialist officer (SO) exam in 3 phases- Prelims, Mains and Interview. The IBPS Specialist Officer exam is held to fill the following posts: Agricultural Field Officer, Marketing Officer, HR/Personnel Officer, IT Officer, Law Officer and Rajbhasha Adhikari. IBPS SO Preliminary Exam 2017 is scheduled to be held on 30th and 31st December 2017 and IBPS SO Mains Exam 2017 will be conducted on 28th January 2018.In this post, we will provide you the preparation tips to crack IBPS SO Prelims 2017 Exam. Let us first go through the exam pattern of the IBPS SO 2017 Exam.

IBPS SO 2017 Preliminary Exam Pattern
The Preliminary exam of IBPS SO 2017 will consist of Reasoning Ability, English Language and General Awareness, whereas the Mains Exam of IBPS SO 2017 will test the candidates on their professional knowledge. Candidates who clear the preliminary exam are eligible to appear for the mains exam.

1.       Understand the Syllabus
Firstly, candidates must have a clear idea about the IBPS SO syllabus and important topics. Refer to the important topics from each section mentioned below and start practicing more on the weak areas.
·         Reasoning: Seating Arrangements, Puzzles, Inequalities, Syllogism, Input-Output, Data Sufficiency, Blood Relations, Order and Ranking, Alphanumeric Series, Distance and Direction, Verbal Reasoning.
·     English Language: Cloze Test, Reading Comprehension, Spotting Errors, Sentence Improvement, Sentence Correction, Para Jumbles, Fill in the Blanks, Para/Sentence Completion.
·       Quantitative Aptitude: Number Series, Data Interpretation, Simplification/ Approximation, Quadratic Equation, Data Sufficiency, Mensuration, Average, Profit and Loss, Ratio and Proportion, Work, Time and Energy, Time and Distance, Probability, Relations,  Simple and Compound Interest, Permutation and Combination
·              General Awareness: Current Affairs, Banking Awareness, GK Updates, Currencies, Important Places Books and Authors, Awards, Headquarters, Prime Minister Schemes, Important Days

2.       Study Plan and Strategy
You should devise a strategy and prepare a Study Plan on how much time is to be spent on each section and what should be the order of attempting different sections in the exam. Strictly follow this plan in order to crack the exam. Candidates should first attempt the questions in which they are strong and less time consuming.

3.       Time Management
Time Management is the key to success and is very crucial to score well in the IBPS SO Exam.Learn to manage your time so that you are able to complete your exam as well as finish the complete syllabus on time.Maintain a time table and also take time to analyze your strengths and weakness. Remember, not to waste time on questions which you are not confident of.

4.       IBPS SO Mock Test Series
Practice with IBPS SO mock test to understand the exam pattern and also to check your level of preparation. Refine your strategy and keep practicing mocks on regular intervals. Look out for shorter methods or tricks and cross check if you solved the paper in lesser time and greater accuracy. You can also solve previous year question papers to increase the speed and accuracy.

5.       Revision
Make small notes of important formulas, shortcuts, tricks etc while your preparation for IBPS SO exam. Revise them just before the exam to save your time.

6.       Reading
Develop the habit of reading newspapers and magazines daily to keep yourself updated about the current affairs and also to improve your English language skills.
